I got inspired by Naughty Dog's The Last of Us and wanted to recreate my dad's old car using a combination of trims, tileables, vertex paint blends, decals and some RGBA masks.

A simple set of customizable materials and alphas have been made using Substance Designer.

The weighted normals mid poly workflow was always so good for such tasks, paired with the techniques mentioned above, it allows me to have a strong customization.

I created a base master material that allows me to blend multiple texture sets , change colors, add dust, dirt, leaks and weathering as well as an "edge mask" for extra realism similar to what Naughty Dogs have been doing for TLOU, in addition, POM decals for small details, panel lines and dent details as well as a master material for headlights based on UV coordinates manipulation to create a sense of depth while staying opaque.

The base scene was made using a modified version of the Automotive Beach Scene from Epic games with some quixel assets for set dressing.
